Oil Lamp

In the centre of the lamp is the half-bird, half-human figure of Garuda. The woman on his knee may be his mother, whom he rescued from the naga or snakes, according to legend. The base of the lamp consists of four containers for oil, each with a lip to accommodate a wick. The lamp was suspended from a chain, and probably hung in a temple.
