Weissenhof Chair

In 1927 the later Bauhaus director Mies van der Rohe presented his cantilevered chair based on an idea by the Dutch architect Mart Stam. The essence of the construction was a smooth, continuous tube, just like the tubular bows of Rietveld’s ‘Beugel’ Chair (left). The generous arched springs afford the chair a dynamic look and increased sitting comfort.
