Around 1980 René Daniels sparked a new expressive manner of painting. The prelude to this began in the trendsetting Abstract art of that time. The hatching and the red visual elements in this early drawing still observe the pictorial idiom of this movement. The deceptively rapid working manner, however, signals the dynamism that would characterize the ‘wild painting’ movement.
