The 1919 ELTA (First Air Traffic Exhibition Amsterdam) heralded the start of civil aviation in the Netherlands. The noisy presence of the FK 23 Bantam (the fighter plane in this gallery) at this aviation show made a great impression on the Dutch public. In the poster we see a similar kind of plane buzzing around a gutsy pilot. It was the idea of modern man in the machine that appealed to the imagination.
