Composition with Lines and Rectangles

In this drawing the pipes below and above the sink, and the red doorpost at the right form clear-cut contour lines. They delineate planes, marking the first step toward simplifying the composition. This was worked out further in a painting of 1929, although there too Loeber stopped short of complete abstraction, which she felt would have been too elitist.
