With an entrance area and hallway meandering towards a rear room, this domestic setting is reminiscent of a 17th-century interior scene. While the light in the space and the hushed atmosphere are often noted in the older work, Loeber’s interior more closely resembles a composition of planes. Even the tile floors are rendered two-dimensionally. The sink and faucet, moreover, attest to household work that has come to only a brief standstill.
