Convicts at Work
In the 1930s Evans travelled throughout America to record poverty for the Farm Security Administration. However he photographed much more than that, including seemingly trivial matters. He looked at ordinary Americans, their homes and shops, as well as convicts working on a road. Evans was the first to turn everyday America into a photographic subject: the beginning of a long tradition.
