Bow Chair
Rietveld’s Beugel (Bow) Chair is the first Dutch tubular steel furniture to be commercially produced. Because the initial reactions to the prototypes were positive, Metz & Co. department store wanted to market the chair. The first experiments with black painted fibreboard, however, proved unsuitable for large-scale production. Rietveld therefore switched to plywood, which could be painted any desired colour.
