Medallion
As a memento of the laying of the first stone of the Amsterdam Town Hall, each of the four children who played a pivotal role in this ceremony received an engraved gold medallion. On the obverse are arms of the city and the year 1648, and on the reverse is an extensive description of this momentous occasion. This medallion was given to Jacob, the six-year-old son of Mayor Cornelis de Graeff.
