This lamp is in the shape of a fish with an elephant’s trunk. Originally, a wick was placed in the fabulous creature’s open mouth and the oil poured in from the back. The young woman could be Sri Tanjung, a princess from Javanese folklore. Falsely accused and murdered by her jealous husband, she ascended to heaven, but she was later revived and carried back to life by a legendary fish.
