Statuette of a woman or heavenly nymph
Tuff stone or tufa was only rarely used for religious images in Java. Smaller, secular figurines were commonly made of terracotta. This exceptional statuette of a lady holding a cloth to her breast is in the style of the East Javanese kingdom of Majapahit. She stands on a round
base reminiscent of the ivory figures from Sri Lanka.
