Seated Man
From the moment the Hungarian Brassaï arrived in Paris in 1924, he began recording life in the French capital. His book Paris de nuit (1932), containing nocturnal photographs of misty quays and electric lighting, was an immediate hit. Brassaï had an eye for the poetry of the street. This photograph of a seated man with his arms bent at an angle and wearing a round hat forms a near geometric composition.
