Oval Cartouche with the Alphabet
The German goldsmith Esaias von Hulsen published a series of six designs in blackwork at the beginning of the 17th century. The oval edge of the medallion is ornamented with the alphabet and the date 1606. The floral pattern and the moresque scrollwork are typical of his work. Designs for shanks have been added on both sides of the medallion.
