A Pair of Oversleeves
This set of sleeves was probably worn by a little boy in view of the split and wooden buttons. Oversleeves for girls were usually shaped like an elbow, after the fashion of manches en sabot (half-length sleeves with a pleated cuff). These prim-and-proper boy’s sleeves echo the clothing
of adult men, who also wore this kind of colourful flowered fabric.
