Two fishermen wearing pea jackets and caps are portrayed in a lumpy and angular manner against a background consisting of their sailing ship. Their heads are arrangements of overexposed areas in primary colours. In this way the depiction – which could easily have created a romanticized image of their gruelling occupation, one linked to nature – took on a different, brighter and more positive aura.
