Letellier was a French press photographer. He took this photograph of a dead man on a street towards the end of the Algerian War of Independence (1954-1962), in which the French army and various Algerian factions fought one another. The war had already been raging for seven years, the endless terrorist attacks claiming countless victims. People walk past the corpse without paying it the slightest attention.
