Overdoor of the Thesaurie Ordinaris (Treasury)
The entrances of the various offices inside the Amsterdam Town Hall were ornamented with appropriate sculptures. Quellinus’ model for the overdoor of the Treasury (Municipal Department of Financial Affairs) depicts putti with two large fish: an allusion to the city’s wealth as a result of the rich ‘catch’ of its merchants.
