Construction work, bridges and structures in scaffolding: these subjects recur frequently in Brangwyn’s etchings. Brangwyn did not care much for modern art, yet this print with numerous intersecting diagonals makes a fairly abstract impression. The artist called this etching Scaffolding, No. 2. There is also a Scaffolding, No. 1, a more ‘realistic’ drypoint from 1919.
