Pectoral cross
This small precious cross probably belonged to a German priest. Later, in the 17th century, it became the property of an Amsterdam mayor, Gerard Schaep. On the basis of the name ‘Bernd Schaph’ inscribed on it, he mistakenly believed that it had something to do with a valuable
object inherited from one of his ancestors.
