Incense or make-up box
Unlike its oblong neighbour with the chrysanthemum motif, this little box was not decorated in relief, but in smoothly finished lacquer. In the 18th and 19th centuries such boxes served as incense containers. However, in the 16th century they were also used to keep make-up.
