Cave entrances were closed off with larger walls. The circular or oval granaries were usually divided into sections with small low walls. The narrow entrances to the granaries were closed off with wooden lids or doors, such as this little door.<Br>In the 15th and 16th centuries the Tellem also used stone as building material. The present-day inhabitants of this region - the Dogon - still make their homes from stone, with clay serving as mortar.
