Warp: hand-spun cotton - white and reddish brown.<BR> Weft: hand-spun white cotton<BR> <BR> Square shaped bag with straight-edged opening. Sides sewn together with whipping stitch ; upper rim hemmed. Warp-face plain weave ; structural pattern by means of warp stripes. Pattern unit: two wide brown stripes, followed by two brown pin stripes all set on white ground (together ca. 1.5 cm wide), repeated alternately across width of bag.<BR> Strap: warp-face plain weave, warp-striped pattern (wide brown stripe in center bordered by narrow brown ones) - thicker yarns used.<BR> Reddish brown yarns dyed with tree bark (?)<BR> Made by Doña Constancia (donated by Mr. Lemley).<BR> Provenience: San Miguel Totolapan, Guerrero, between Arcelia and Ajuchitlan (Rio Balsas region).<BR>
