Ballgame vessel

Before a stepped pyramid or the steps of a ballcourt two ballplayers are shown bouncing a large rubber ball back and forth. The ball player at the left wears a hummingbird headdress, the right person’s headdress combining a bird's beak and deer’s head. The ball contains the glyph 'Imix' with the number 14 placed in front. The meaning has yet to be established. Some scholars think it defines the dimension of the ball: 14 times an unknown standard size. The players wear the usual torso protection and are presented in a typical ballgame pose, one hand and one knee resting on the ground. Both players are assisted by a second, also equipped with the typical torso protection.
