Huipil
De traditionele dracht voor vrouwen uit San Andrés Chicahuaxtla bestaat uit een “huipil”, rok, gordel en deken. De “huipil” wordt met de hand geweven op een heupweefgetouw en bestaat gewoonlijk uit drie delen die aan elkaar bevestigd zijn. In de periode waarin deze “huipil” gemaakt is, de jaren 1960, werd dit type kledingstuk kleurrijker gedecoreerd dan de kort daarvoor, vermoedelijk doordat gekleurd katoen garen makkelijk verkrijgbaar werd. De “huipil” wordt los hangend over de rok gedragen of juist tot boven de heupen opgesjord en als een soort buideltas wordt gebruikt. Wanneer de “huipil” los hangt is de rok niet zichtbaar, behalve aan de zijkanten waar de “huipil” grote openingen heeft. Net als de rokken hebben de “huipiles” en slecht afgewerkte zoom.<BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> Handspun white cotton; multi-coloured cotton and wool used for embroidery.<BR> Acquired 1961 from a Trique woman in the market of Tlaxiaco.<BR> <BR> Dimensions: L: 106 cm<BR> W: 89 cm<BR> <BR> Description: Handspun white cotton, gauze weave with plain white weft stripes. The central panel has dark blue warp stripes on both edges. All over garment are brocaded cross bands, predominantly red with some green, yellow and pink, in commercial yarn. The circular neck opening is finished with two satin ribbons, faded orange and yellow, cut in zigzag, the ends of which are left hanging loose down the centre back. Below the neck opening, on front and back, a broad cross band of 9.5 cm consisting of a vertical zigzag multi-coloured design. <BR> The huipil is worn either wrapped around the waist or left hanging loose.<BR> <BR> Used with: skirt vide 5075-55.<BR> <BR> Provenience: San Andrés Chicahuaxtla, Oax.<BR>
