Simultaneously animals are selected for the autumn slaughter. This selection is a great event where young and old arrive to watch or help. Also many tourists come to this spectacle. The herd is driven in a large enclosed space. Within hundreds of reindeer run in large circles. The shepherds can detect their own animals by an earmark and capture them with a lasso. They pull the reluctant reindeer in smaller enclosures. They separate calves that have not not been marked from the group. After sorting and earmarking the owners leave, each with their own herd.
