A wide variety of materials, including leaves, flowers, seeds, small snail shells and sea shells were applied. The wreaths later served as decoration, once headgear in the European style was introduced. <Br> This wreath of shells originates from Tuamotu, an archipelago extending across more than seventy atolls in eastern Polynesia.
