A pair of cotton leg coverings. They are fixed to the wearer's other garments with cotton tapes, probably to a belt round the waist. Men also wore similar leg coverings in the summer. This kind of garment was worn by both sexes, in combination with a knee-length over-shirt, also known as a 'frock', and an under-shirt. In wintertime, men (especially) wore leg coverings made of a double layer of fur. This kind of local garment gradually fell into disuse during the first half of the twentieth century. Nowadays local people usually wear Russian or European clothing.
