Een paar laarzen
A pair of sealskin boots with cotton legs. The form of the boot betrays Manchurian influence. Boots like these were worn by women in winter, with stockings or inner boots made of 'shammy' leather. They were firmly watertight, and thus good for journeys through snow. Women wore fish-skins boots in both summer and winter, but seal-skin boots were also commonly worn.
Nowadays fur boots of 'modern' manufacture, with felt linings and rubber soles, together with Russian and European shoes, have largely replaced traditionally made boots.
