A pair of stockings (or inner boots) made from the skins of musk rats, finished at the top with coloured cotton. Men probably wore these stockings with the hair side next to their bare feet. The sole is made from one piece of fur, while several pieces have been used for making the legs. The stockings were tied together with straps when stored in the house. Men wore stockings of different kinds in winter, inside outer boots made of seal leather or sealskin. Women wore boots made of seal leather with cotton tops. Some kinds of boot were still being worn in the second half of the twentieth century.
