362-115<BR> Walapai blanket; coohooluh (TK); rabbitskin, cotton; l. 103 cm., w. 132 cm.; ca. 1880.<BR> Rabbits were hunted individually and collectively. Their skins to be used for blankets were buried in damp soil before use to make them supple. They were worn during the cold season. Women had two such blankets sewn together at the shoulder, and drew them close to the body with a yucca braided belt around the waist (Kroeber et.al. 1935:67,91,106; Ewing 1960:65).
