Men's Triptych

This painting is a triptych, painted by three different artists. They depicted country sacred to each of them. <BR> Sam Tjampitjin has shown a Warran (claypan) named Parlkurta, north of Lake Mackay, where surface water collects after rains. Concentric lines mark the claypan, while red and brown discs indicate Kantar (places where people scooped water out of holes).<BR> Tjumpo has shown Maruwar, sacred country where Marlu, the Kangeroo, lay down in the Tjukurrpa (dreamtime). The large red disc depicts the place where he lay his head. Creeks line a central Warran (Claypan).<BR> Helicopter depicts four soakages; Oolkoori, Pilkart, Wannaliwiyal and Wangkartu. Dotting shows bush food, while parallel lines depict the Tali (sand dunes) of the country near Nyinmi (Jupiter Well).<BR>
