Lost Eyes I
Surrealism was not as prevalent in the Netherlands, dominated by the calculating look of the De Stijl movement, as elsewhere. Wally Elenbaas is one of the few Dutch photographers who ‘converted’ to Surrealism. This still life is a typical example of his work: two (real!) human eyes lie on a crumpled piece of paper, seemingly just unwrapped as though they were food.
